Ford: Who’s quoting what
In the past, we’ve heard from agents that one of the things they struggle with is knowing what makes and models work best for a specialty policy through Hagerty. The Cars You Should Know list isn’t just a compilation of the cars we think are cool, it’s the cars we see come across our book of business most often (that also happen to be very cool, of course).
The quote trends below help show the growing popularity of this month’s models. If you know what’s trending, you’ll know what to look for in your own book of business.
- Mustang | Fords, in general, accounted for 20% of all Hagerty quotes in 2024. And the Ford Mustang was the most popular of the Fords — coming in at number 2 for the most often quoted car for Hagerty, just behind the Chevy Corvette. The 1965-66 Ford Mustang had the most quotes, but it was closely followed by the 1994-2004 Ford Mustang (SN95) fourth generation cars. In addition to being a favorite of our core audience, the Mustang is proving to be a popular car with younger generations, too, with an above-average share of quotes from Gen X and younger enthusiasts. The most youthful of all Ford pony cars is the 1987-93 Ford Mustang.
- F-Series Pickups | Just like with the Chevrolet pickups, the Ford F-Series trucks are gaining popularity with the younger crowd. More than 70% of the quotes for these models were from enthusiasts born after 1964. Wondering which trucks specifically to keep an eye out for? The most popular generation F-Series in 2024 was the 1973-79 truck with over 22% of all quotes. The least popular is the 1957-60 with 2%. The 1973-79 F-Series is also the most youthful with 77% of all quotes from Gen X and younger enthusiasts in 2024.
- Bronco | The Bronco, perhaps thanks to the revival model launched in 2021, is on the rise when it comes to Hagerty quotes. Sitting at #16 on our most-quoted vehicle list, we had just under 10,000 quoted last year. It’s one of the models our younger audience gravitates toward with over 75% of the quotes coming from people born after 1964. The most popular Bronco quoted is the first generation (1966-77), accounting for more than half of the Bronco quotes in 2024. Make sure you’re keeping an eye out for clients—young and young-at-heart—who have a thing for Broncos. They might qualify for a specialty policy from Hagerty.
- GT | Probably due to its high price point, the Ford GT had less than 1,000 quotes at Hagerty in 2024 and is on the decline from 2019. However, also due to its high price point, it’s still critical to keep an eye out for in your book of business. While we don’t see as many quotes, these rare beauties are an important part of car culture history, retain a ton of value, and will continue to be a general crowd pleaser for years to come. And if you have a client with GT, they almost certainly qualify for our Private Client product.
As we’ve known for a couple years now, the ownership of classic and collector cars is starting to shift, gaining more popularity in the younger generations. Keeping a close eye on who’s quoting what can help you understand who and what to look for in your own book of business.
